Before You Begin
Make sure your device supports eSIM. Here's a quick compatibility check:
- iPhone: iPhone XS, XR, and all newer models support eSIM
- Samsung: Galaxy S20 and newer, Z Fold/Flip series
- Google Pixel: Pixel 3 and newer
- Other Android: Check Settings โ About Phone โ SIM status for eSIM support
You'll also need a WiFi connection during setup and your QR code from Amigo eSIM (sent by email within 30 seconds of purchase).
Activate on iPhone โ Step by Step
Open Settings
Go to Settings on your iPhone. Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data depending on your region).
Add eSIM
Tap Add Cellular Plan or Add eSIM. Your camera will open automatically.
Scan the QR Code
Point your camera at the QR code in your Amigo eSIM confirmation email. The code will be detected automatically.
Confirm Installation
Tap Continue on the confirmation screen. Your eSIM profile will download and install (takes ~30 seconds).
Set as Travel Line
Choose a label for your new eSIM (e.g., "Travel" or "Amigo"). Set it as your default data line or keep your home SIM as default and switch manually when abroad.
Enable Data Roaming
On your Amigo eSIM line, enable Data Roaming. This is required for the eSIM to connect to local networks in your destination country.
Activate on Android โ Step by Step
Open Settings
Go to Settings โ Network & Internet โ SIMs (path may vary by Android version).
Add SIM / Download eSIM
Tap the + icon or Add SIM. Select Scan QR code or Download a SIM instead.
Scan the QR Code
Scan the QR code from your Amigo eSIM confirmation email. Alternatively, tap the manual entry option and enter the activation code manually.
Confirm and Download
Confirm the eSIM download when prompted. The profile will install automatically within 30โ60 seconds.
Set as Data SIM
Set your Amigo eSIM as the preferred data SIM in Settings. Enable data roaming on the Amigo eSIM line.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
QR code won't scan
Ensure you have good lighting and hold your camera steady. Try zooming in slightly. If it still fails, use the manual activation code option.
eSIM not connecting abroad
Make sure Data Roaming is enabled on the Amigo eSIM line. Toggle airplane mode on/off to force network reconnection.
"No service" after activation
The eSIM activates on arrival in the destination country. If you're still at home, it may show no service until you travel.
QR code already used error
Each QR code can only be scanned once. If you reset your phone, contact Amigo eSIM support for a replacement code.
Can I use two eSIMs at once?
Depends on your device. iPhone 13+ supports dual eSIM (two active eSIMs simultaneously). Most Android devices support one active eSIM at a time.
How do I switch between SIMs?
On iPhone: Settings โ Cellular. On Android: Settings โ Network โ SIM management. You can switch your active data SIM instantly.
